If you know my husband, Trey… you know October is HIS Super Bowl.
Forget pumpkin spice. We’re talking full-blown haunted house season — and he saves PTO just to travel for it. Yes, it’s that serious. 😂
So this past October, we packed our bags (and my favorite shirt again, don’t judge lol). We headed up to Atlanta for the legendary Netherworld Haunted House. Their twisted escape room experience left us howling — and not just from fear.
Warm-Up Game: 3 Minutes of Panic
Trey’s parents and his brother, Hunter, joined us for the trip. But when it came to the full 60-minute escape room? They tapped out. So we eased them in with the “Get Out in 3 Minutes” side game — sounds easy, right?
WRONG.
We had one job: push a button in the locker.
What happened? Let’s just say someone couldn’t find it… and we lost.
(No names. But I felt that button, babe. Just sayin’.)
🧩 Onto the Main Event: Escape the Netherworld
Still laughing from our micro-loss, Trey, Hunter, and I headed into the real challenge: “Haunted – Escape the Netherworld.”
We thought it’d be just the three of us. Maybe we’d convince Hunter (a total newbie) to join the madness. But at the last minute, a family of four hopped in too.
Which turned out to be… awesome.

👀 First-Time Energy & Finding the Flow
Watching a first-timer in an escape room is hilarious. It is relatable when they have that wide-eyed look, like, what even is happening right now?
Hunter started off in full observer mode. But once the first clue cracked?
Game. On.
He was moving, searching, solving like a pro — and the energy from the whole group just clicked. It’s always a little chaotic, but when strangers turn into teammates? Magic.
💀 Netherworld Review: Chills, Clues, and Creepy Vibes
This room was incredible.
- The spooky atmosphere? 🔥
- The puzzles? Twisty in the best way.
- The staff? Five stars, all the way.
Netherworld didn’t miss a single detail. They captured everything from the fog to the flickering lights. The way the walls felt like they were closing in… just a little.
We left buzzing, already talking about the next one.
Atlanta is a city of twists and turns — perfect for escape lovers like us. But it’s also a place with deep roots in American history.
📜 Did You Know?
Atlanta was rebuilt from the ashes after being burned during the Civil War in 1864. Nicknamed the “Phoenix City,” it rose stronger — just like any good escape artist does after a loss.
