Did We Finally Get Our Own Room?! #7

Trip #7 — Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Spring Break called, and we answered. It came with sunshine and ocean breezes. It was the getaway that felt like a deep exhale.

This trip? Pure magic.
By day, we strolled the beach, sipped fruity drinks, and soaked in the sun. I curled up with a good book, waves crashing in the background and pigeons cooing nearby. It was the kind of peace that wraps around you and whispers, “Stay a little longer.”

By night?
Movies, card games, and a few too many snacks. The perfect vacation rhythm.

Broadway at the Beach — A Total Treasure Hunt

Broadway at the Beach — A Total Treasure Hunt

We stumbled into Broadway at the Beach, and wow — this place is buzzing with energy. The place is full of quirky shops. There’s live entertainment and sweet treats at every turn. It’s a must-visit for families, couples, or anyone craving some fun. Whether you’re hunting for souvenirs or just people-watching with ice cream in hand, it’s got something for everyone.

The Haunting of Hyde House — Our Chosen Challenge

We booked with Backstage Escape Games. We were drawn in by the eerie promise of their haunted room:
“The Haunting of Hyde House.”

Now, I won’t spoil the setup (trust me, it’s worth the surprise), but this room? Spectacular. Immersive, spooky, and so well-designed — it hit all our favorite notes.

But just as we were getting ready to start, another family walked in… yep, they joined our session last minute!

So, no, we didn’t get the room to ourselves this time — but it turned out to be a blast. The family was super fun, full of energy, and (fun fact!) they had never lost an escape room before.

Spoiler alert:
We helped them keep that streak alive!
We escaped with three minutes to spare — a total team effort from both groups.

A Victory… But No Sign to Prove It

We were flying high after the win, but sadly, no “We Escaped!” sign moment. The staff had to reset the room quickly for the next group, so we were ushered out fast. Still, we did snag one quick pic outside the building to mark the memory.

💬 Final Thoughts

Even without a solo room, this experience was one for the books. Incredible theme, amazing energy, and one more story added to our ever-growing escape room journey.

🌊 Did You Know?

Myrtle Beach wasn’t always the bustling tourist hotspot we know today. Back in the early 1900s, it was just a quiet stretch of coastline called “New Town.” Mostly farmland and wilderness, this sleepy beach town started its big glow-up in the 1950s and ’60s. The rise of post-war travel significantly influenced its development. The opening of the iconic Myrtle Beach Pavilion also played a crucial role. These factors quickly transformed it into the vibrant vacation mecca we love now.
