This trip has been a long time coming.

For years, our dad dreamed of his three girls taking a girls’ trip. But life kept pulling us in different directions. We always assumed we had time. But after losing him in January 2020, that dream began to carry more weight. In April 2023—three years later—we finally made it happen.

Three Women, Three Days, Three Adventures

Each of us got to plan one day of the trip. And somehow, even with our legendary indecisiveness (yes, fun fact: we are the worst decision-makers), we pulled it off.

DAY ONE – MY TURN

We’re Florida residents, so we road-tripped to Orlando. But before check-in, I had one thing on my mind: disc golf.

🥏 Gordon Barnett Park

I’d been itching to try this course—and we had time to spare. It’s an 18-hole course, but we planned to do just 9. Pro tip: bring water. We didn’t. Florida gave us a full blast of 100-degree sunshine, and we were feeling it. We couldn’t even find hole one, so we started on hole two. By hole nine, we were parched but proud.

🏨 Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa

We arrived at the resort and—surprise!—our room number had a sneaky little “B” at the end, which led to a bit of confusion. Turns out, one door opened to two units. After some hallway detective work, we made it to our room, got settled, and prepped for our night adventure.

🔐 Escape Room #16 – The Bureau

This was one for the books. Touchscreens instead of traditional locks? Count me in! The whole room was sleek, modern, and alcohol-friendly (yep, cocktails and codes!). It was hands-down one of the coolest rooms we’ve done. And yes—we escaped! Nothing beats that rush.

DAY TWO – SIS’S TURN

Day two was mellow in the best way.

We explored the resort, grabbed lunch in the central market, and then visited our cousins nearby. Sometimes the best memories are made just catching up and laughing with the people you love most.

DAY THREE – MOM’S TURN

Spa day!

We suited up in plush white robes. We sipped tea and water with peanuts (yes, really). Then we slipped into total relaxation mode. My massage was calm and restorative. I was unsure about the pedicure. I’m not a fan of foot stuff. However, it turned out to be a lovely, even chatty, experience.

Dinner Time Drama

I was pulling for Space 220 (next time, it’s happening!), but we went with Bocas Grill & Bar, a Latin-fusion spot that had great reviews. Unfortunately, nothing hit the spot. So we pulled the emergency chute and ended the night with Chick-fil-A and cozy hotel vibes.

Final Thoughts

This quick girls’ getaway gave us laughs, deep conversations, new memories, and a beautiful pause in the busyness of life. It was simple but sacred.
